This is a poster I created for the UCDA Vote 2020: Student Poster Design Initiative. The poster was created to encourage people to vote, as it is a very important part of our society and lack of voters is a serious problem in today's age. I found that young voters are some of the biggest culprits of staying home on Election Day, so I decided to tailor my poster to that demographic.
In order to grasp the attention of young voters, my thought process was simple.
"What would young people, myself included, rather do that go out and vote? Electronics and video games, of course!"
Once I decided to go with this concept, the rest was easy. I drew up some fighting game style characters using a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, ported them into Illustrator, colored them, and then created a background and the necessary typography. I then swapped over to Photoshop and put the rest together. I feel this is a strong way to encourage people to vote, as it is certainly flashy and colorful as well as slightly humorous and has a good message. It connects to a younger audience in a fun and effective way while staying fairly non-partisan.
