This is a mock poster for a fictional gallery at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) meant to show the similarities and contrasts between the urban lifestyle and setting and the open wilderness. Today's world is wildly overdeveloped. Mountains and trees have been replaced with skyscrapers and factories. The idea of the nature is slowly being tucked away further and further into obscurity. The world is changing.
But there is still beauty everywhere you go, you just have to find it. That is the point of this exhibit. It is meant to show both worlds colliding and creating art. This poster was designed to reflect that and show off that idea. I feel the title as well as the actual design shows this quite well. I intentionally built up the skyscraper on the right to mimic the mountains on the bottom, and the same idea is carried through the rest. It is meant to simulate a reflection of the city represented by the wilderness.
When creating this I learned the importance of selecting a readable typeface. The way this is designed, there is a lot going on so to get the desired effect I needed to choose my typeface carefully. The forms had to be totally clear, even with the array of tones filling them. This ultimately led to a very successful design, feeling very collected and complete.
